"You become what you repeatedly do."

Do you exercise regular and eat healthy foods daily? You become a healthy person.

We become what we repeatedly do. Let's now apply this in our topic..

You don't get overweight overnight.

You don't eat a gallon of ice cream tonight and then get obese tomorrow. You get obese by eating lots of ice cream over a period of time.

Same thing if you want to get rich, you don't get rich overnight. Unless you do illegal thing or win in a lottery.

You get rich by doing a rich man habits, you save, you invest, you avoid bad debts. You study how money works.

Success doesn't happen overnight it happens bit by bit. If you do the right things consistently over time.

5 Helpful Apps for a More Productive Day

“Is it going to rain tomorrow, Siri?” my husband asks. Siri answers, “It doesn’t look like it will rain tomorrow, Hester.”

Sometimes, my husband would play with Siri and he would ask, “Siri, am I handsome?” And Siri would answer,

“I suppose so. For a human.” Or he would ask, “What’s my name, Siri?” And she would answer in her haughtiest voice, “Hester, or that’s what you told me!”

Siri, the Apple virtual assistant, is quite literally that—a personal assistant (well, as long as she understands your English!). She can email for you, text for you, search a place for you, and so many other things. She can even remind you of your appointment!

Siri makes life more convenient and productive for us who use technology. In the same manner, applications (apps), which are downloadable to your iPhone or Android device, makes day-to-day life easier to manage and enables us to produce more out of it. I’d like to share with you some apps that I have found to be of great help:

1. Todoist (https://todoist.com/).

I personally use Todoist for my to-do list. I find it helpful as it even emails me every day on the tasks that I need to accomplish. It integrates well with Gmail as you can download an extension of Todoist in Gmail and you can input all the things you need to do the next day or the next month in your email rather than going to your phone to do it. Then when you’re on the move, you can check your mobile and the same items will be there.

2. Evernote (https://evernote.com/).

Evernote is so helpful because it is the all-around app for me while on the go. I see a recipe leaflet on the supermarket that I hope to use one day. I take a shot of the leaflet on Evernote, file it under my recipe category and it is there for me to return to one day when I’m about to cook. My family is going on holiday to a new place and I read up on several tourist places to see there. I just cut the passages that I like and paste it to Evernote. Then I’m good to go and I don’t have to look to the web when we are on the road. I just check my Evernote. What’s more I can also write on Evernote. I can even coordinate a project with other people through the app.

3. Another app that I find helpful is Tiny Scanner.

You know how it is when you need to file something and wish you have a scanner with you so you can store the document? That is exactly what Tiny Scanner does. It turns your Smartphone into a mini scanner for documents, photos, receipts and other texts then store or email them as PDF files. The good thing about this app is it gives you a choice what size you want to scale the picture you took. You can scale the scanned item into Letter, A4, Legal, A3, A5 or card size (85mm x 55mm). Once you’ve cropped the file into the size that you want, you can then store them. It is a really nifty app to have on your phone.

4. One app that helps in making me productive while surfing the web is Pocket (https:// getpocket.com/).

When I’m researching for an article, I save all the sites I want to read in Pocket and tag them, then when it’s time to do the actual reading, I go back to them. If you have nothing to do, you’re waiting for a ride or for your doctor, or you remember you want to check on that list of must-read books from a website, then you can just go to Pocket.

5. For me and my husband, the You Need a Budget or YNAB app (http://www.youneedabudget.com/) is something we swear to when it comes to budgeting. You pay a certain amount (USD50/year) for it, but it is so worth it. You can test it for 34 days so you can check it out.

I have been budgeting since I was a teenager, and even went through a period when I used a columnar notebook. The good thing about the new YNAB is it is cloud-based. Wherever you are, as long as you have Internet connection, you can input your income or expense. This means you know all the time if you are over your budget or not. In YNAB, you can also set a goal for a specific category and the app will show you what percentage you are to your goal.

The special thing about YNAB are its four simple rules: 1) Give every dollar— or peso, or whatever denomination you’re using—a job; 2) Save for a rainy day; 3) Roll with the punches; and 4) Live on last month’s income.

YNAB really helps us keep to our weekly, monthly and yearly financial goals.

There it is, five apps towards a more productive day! I hope one or two of these will be of help to you. For sure there are so many apps and programs out there. Use what works best for you and make the most out of your day by using them.

Why Selling Is Important Skill

Because salesman don’t have a very good image.
When you say “salesmen” to people, their minds automatically pull out other words such as “sleazy” and “pushy” and “sneaky” and “devious” and “lying”.

Which is sad.

Because selling is a wonderful, honorable, and beautiful service you give to humanity.

Here’s the truth: People don’t know what to buy. People NEED someone more knowledgeable to guide them on what to buy.

Once upon a time, I used to be ashamed of selling. Every time I sell, I feel awful. I’d cringe, because asking money from people is the last thing I want to do on earth. “Gosh, what will people think of me? I’m a money-grabber!”

I want to be honest with you. I still struggle with those thoughts once in awhile.

But whenever these feelings of shame come over me, I ask myself the question, “Bo, how much do you love these people?”

That question hits me like a slap on my face. It stings. It jolts me. I answer, “I love them a
lot.” My mind answers back, “If you do, then do all you can to give them the very best product that will meet their needs.”

Selling is about loving people.

If you don’t sell, you’re being selfish. You’re thinking of yourself—what other people will say—instead of serving others.

If you don’t sell, you’re depriving people out there WHO NEED YOUR PRODUCT TO SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS.

They’re out there in the cold, crying, suffering, hungry, battered, wounded, longing, thirsty, naked… And you left them there because you’re SHY? You’re afraid that you’ll be criticized by a few people? You’re afraid that you’ll be rejected?

Stop thinking of yourself only.

Start thinking of the customer and love that person.

William Clement Stone said, “Sales are contingent upon the attitude of the salesman, not the attitude of the prospect.” What’s your attitude?

My strong recommendation is have a LOVING ATTITUDE.

5 Awesome Online Sideline You Can Earn Money From

Many of us have experienced having low salary or earning minimum wage as employees at a certain point in our career. We looked for “sidelines” to augment our income to help pay the bills.

Some sold beauty products or apparel to officemates on a hulugan (installment) payment mode. Others sold cold cuts or merienda to co-workers on a “sa sweldo mo na bayaran” (pay on salary date) agreement. I’m pretty sure each of you has a lot of good stories to tell and experiences to share.

But since many Filipinos have become more internet and social media-savvy, it’s about time to look for more sidelines and work-from-home rakets. Here are the new hit rakets that you can try on weekends or during your free time (not during your official working hours please).

1. Freelance Work

The Philippines has been on top of the call center and BPO industries globally in the past few years. If you have an experience as a call center agent or as a customer support officer in these industries, you may have better edge than others who will try doing this for the first time.

You can be employed as an online or phone customer service assistant, advisor, support, etc. while being with your loved ones at home by companies like Teletech, Apple, Convergys, Amazon, Xerox and many others.

You can also apply via freelance websites such as Upwork (formerly Odesk), Raket.Ph, Elance, etc. as a freelance writer, salesman, virtual assistant, language teacher, accountant, etc. A whole lot of other jobs are available depending on your skills.

2. Make Money by Blogging

A blog is a website that uses a dynamic software platform like the free WordPress or Blogger. You need to learn first or ask someone to help you out in creating your blog or website.

Blogging about fresh and sought-after topics can be a very lucrative way to earn extra money while being employed. I personally have some blogger friends who are earning more than when they were still employed.

But remember, this is not a short-cut to earning big bucks. You have to invest in knowledge, resources, and time in order to earn from blogging.

In order for you to earn from this raket you need to consider your blog as a business. You should also know your “voice,” whether you are a teacher or a student blogger.

New bloggers should also learn the proper way of using keyword research techniques, how to get traffic, marketing methods, site optimization, promotional venues, and other components of a successful money-making blog.

You can make money in blogging by selling products or services, direct advertising (by selling ad space or writing advertorials), or sell products for companies handled by affiliate marketing companies like Amazon Associates, Clickbank, Commission Junction, etc.

Another effective way to make money from blogging is by joining advertising network like Google AdSense, Nuffnang, Infolinks, Revenuehits, Yahoo! Bing Ad Network, Chitika, and many others.

3. Doing Paid Surveys

Instead of just wasting your time posting unnecessary status updates on your Facebook or social media accounts, why not become an online panelist and earn extra money online from the comforts of your home? Doing paid surveys is surely another way of earning income to pay for your needs or even wants. Some of the best survey websites that pay good cash are American Consumer Opinion, ClearVoice, My Survey, and Survey Savvy, and Esearch.

When you register for these survey sites, they will send you survey invitations through your email together with the respective reward amount. You should then respond and complete the questionnaire.

Many of these surveys will take only about 10 to 30 minutes of your time. Some of these survey companies also conduct surveys via telephone, SMS, and other venues that can pay you even more.

4. Partner with Online Service Companies

Do you have a property like a house in your beautiful province or a condo in the city that is seldom used by you or your family members? Why not have it rented out via AirBnb to other people who may want to visit the place where your property is located? You can have it rented out as little or as much as you can and as much or as little as you want.

I can say that AirBnb is relatively safe since they offer a guarantee of $1,000,000 to protect you from any kind of property damage caused by your renters. It also has a renter rating system so you can decide whether to rent it out or not to a particular person.

Other than that, you also earn if you invite more friends to try Airbnb or earn travel credit for each new friend you invite. You will get $25 when they travel and $75 when they host their home.

Or maybe you have a good-running car that is seldom being used? Why not be an Uber driver or have someone you trust drive it for you around your area? A lot of people going to and from work need a lift especially during rush hours.

However, make sure that your car is registered under your name and is insured. Also, make sure that you or your driver is at least 21 years old and has a valid driver’s license to avoid any trouble. You will also need to have an iPhone 4s or 2013 Android phone at least to be qualified.

5. Sell Your Own Products or Services

I’ve met a lot of people who once struggled in their lifetime as scrappy salaried-employees but have become financially-secure because of their perseverance and determination to succeed in their online businesses.

One of my friends was once terminated by his employer for not disclosing the truth the he did not graduate from college. He redeemed himself by not becoming an employee any longer. He now continuously earns thousands by being a sales agent for real estate companies and selling condo and house units through his social media pages.

Another former colleague also resigned from work and focused instead on selling fresh and tinapang bangus on Facebook with his wife.

You can also sell what you think people are looking for online. Start by asking yourself what are the products or services you are looking for but are hard to find online. Are they always out of stock? Then search for suppliers of this product and be a distributor.

You can also enhance yourself by enrolling in a course for a service that people are always looking for and offer these online. Are you a photographer? Why not sell your photos? Are you a lawyer? Financial advisor? A doctor? Why not be a paid coach online?

Try one of these opportunities and you might be surprised by your online raket and the earning you get from it.
